quality assurance procedures

Data quality is a legitimate global concern and it is at the heart of TRIBOND's endeavors to deliver the best quality research and professional solutions. We hold ourselves to the highest quality standards as evidenced by our current application to join ESOMAR and membership with MSRA. We conduct frequent and refresher trainings of our field staff to ensure that they are up-to-date on field quality requirements as well as utilizing our systematized quality control procedures that have been tested and proven to work. To ensure the best quality of outputs in the assignments, TRIBOND utilizes both field and office level quality control procedures, which will include:

1

instrument design and translation

The survey tool is designed and pre-tested in English and translated and back translated into local languages and pre-tested again. This ensures that the meanings of questions are not lost.

2

scripting

The survey tool is scripted onto the CAPI platform AND then tested several times to ensure that the routing instructions have been correctly scripted and that all the questions details have been captured as required.

3

field team recruiment and selection

All enumerators are recruited based on the minimum requirements as per TRIBOND protocols, trained in person on the survey and its requirements and conduct a day's worth of pilot testing and attend a de-brief. The pilot exercise enables the enumerators to gauge their ability to administer the questionnaire as required, check the length and clarity of the tool. The de-brief session on the other hand enables the enumerators to give their feedback on the pilot exercise after which any proposals are considered for amending the tool and the data collection process.

4

field managment

During data collection, supervisors accompany 30% of all face-to face (F2F) interviews and back-check 20%

20% callbacks are administered on the surveyed respondents to verify the data quality and credibility

GPS is used to track location of all F2F interviews Start and finish time of all interviews are checked in real time

Any respondent substitutions is made by the supervisors

The supervisors give daily updates on fieldwork to coordinator who in turn cascade the information to the project manager and technical team

5

data managment

Data is uploaded into the server every day and checked by the data analyst (DA) according to a pre-prepared check list

The data is checked daily for integrity

Any outliers identified in the initial stages of data collection is corrected soon enough; the respective enumerators is reached out regarding any issues with the data they collected where they will be briefed on the correct approach. In some cases, some interviews could be repeated if serious outliers are identified, while for cases where specific questions have an issue, the questions could be administered back to the respondents.

Once data collection is completed, the data is checked, cleaned, organized and analyzed for reporting. The data is analyzed using SPSS to generate descriptive statistics by use of tables, graphs and pie charts among others.
